At the 29th annual awards ceremony on Sunday at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, Jessica Chastain received the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series from Zendaya and Mescal on stage.

Mescal seemed to hold out his hand as if he were going to grab Zendaya’s arm as they entered the stage together.
She did not, however, accept the offer; instead, the performer continued.

The incident amused Twitter users, who speculated that Zendaya turned down Mescal’s offer to accompany her to the stage.

One user tweeted, “Paul Mescal tried to help Zendaya up the stairs and she said nah.”
